I’m not a fan of writing things about my personal life too often, but this is going to be a pretty big event in my life so why the fuck not.
Well, to cut to the chase, I won’t be returning to Parsons for the second semester. Not because I hate it, not because the classes suck, but because of money. Finding roughly $48,000 in loans proved to be a little more difficult than I thought. It’s partially my fault though. I didn’t do enough to try to get grants or scholarships or prize money for film competitions. It’s going to suck having to leave some of the greatest people I’ve met in my entire life and most likely not being able to see them ‘til the fall of this year.
But like my friend Sophia said, it probably just wasn’t meant to be. It’s odd though, because when I discovered I wouldn’t be going back yesterday, I got a text from my friend Nancy a little later in the day telling me about an internship opportunity at Exclusive Media Group in Beverly Hills that she could help me get. They just produced The Ides of March, Hesher, Bob Dylan: No Direction Home (Directed by Martin Scorsese), and countless other movies. Then, the day before that, my friend Bella (who’s a singer), told me about tours that she would be going on some time soon in Australia and possibly Europe, and how she would want me to do some documentaries about her experience.
The next few months are going to be hectic, crazy, and definitely a whirlwind. Although I’m leaving behind the school that I love so much, things are already looking up.
